9-1-1 and Emergency Calls
9-1-1 is available in our area however it is unreliable. A 9-1-1 call from a cell phone is a hit-and-miss because of cell phone coverage in our area. When a cell is roaming on USA cell tower, 9-1-1 calls are routed to US County Sheriffs Office.
To Report Emergency call with RCMP is 1-204-437-2222. This number will work from your cell phone and/or landline however, your call will be routed to Sprague detachment then forwarded to Steinbach Police Detachment. This method has been known to run anywhere from 2 – 20 mins for someone to answer your call and/or you may get a voicemail (if the dispatch desk is receiving a lot of calls).
Landlines are the most reliable way to contact 9-1-1. One of the best things you can do is to know who has a landline near you. All business entities/offices in Buffalo Point have a landline, except the garbage dump. Some hours of operation are subject to change so it’s best to be aware of times.
